Strengthening ties to elevate communities

For more than 200 years, ��Ҵ�ý has lifted the intellectual, cultural and economic vitality of our local, national and global communities. We're deepening relationships, particularly with our African Canadian and Indigenous communities, through our community service initiatives. And our efforts to solve complex global problems help to drive progress in Nova Scotia.

Through Bringing Worlds Together, we are committed to solving the problems of our time — not making peace with them.

Deepening our impact in our communities

Serving communities is built into ��Ҵ�ý’s DNA. Our community clinics, and culture and recreation facilities enrich our city, province, and region. Our goal for the Bringing Worlds Together campaign is to expand our ability to improve access to vital services and contribute to the health and vitality of our communities.

Filling the talent pipeline

Meeting the demand for highly-skilled professionals

Each year, ��Ҵ�ý graduates hundreds of professionals and highly qualified personnel—biologists, computer scientists, dentists, doctors, engineers, lawyers, nurses and more. Their skills and expertise shape professions, attract new businesses and enrich the vibrancy of our communities. By Bringing Worlds Together, we aim to fill the talent pipeline to meet the increasing demand for these highly skilled graduates.

Building bridges to equity and inclusion

To address historic wrongdoings, ��Ҵ�ý is taking decisive steps as part of Bringing Worlds Together to create a respectful, equitable and welcoming place for everyone. These actions include everything from public lectures about the experience and impacts of racism to partnering with underrepresented communities to deliver outreach programs.

As a leading national research university, ��Ҵ�ý is a vital part of Canada’s innovation ecosystem. We play a major role in transforming research into products, services, and processes that offer benefits to society. Our success in teaching innovation and entrepreneurial skills and providing support and resources to startups is making a difference. Bringing Worlds Together will enable us to support the growth of the innovation economy in Nova Scotia and beyond.

Where accessibility meets oral health care

Susan Keating-Bekkers (DDH’91) is a dental hygienist, a past ��Ҵ�ý faculty member, a clinic volunteer and a community outreach donor. She supports the Faculty’s efforts to make outstanding oral health care accessible to disadvantaged populations.
