Since August 2017, Dr. Baker has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado, Boulder in the  Department. She also holds a courtesy appointment in the , and a joint appointment at the  through the  (RASEI). Being a professor has been her dream since she was 15 years old, and the job has exceeded her expectations.

Previously, Dr. Baker was a Research Engineer in the  at NREL, and a Postdoctoral Researcher in the  group at NREL. She received her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in December 2014. She is interested in how advanced controls and optimization methods can help integrate renewables, facilitate building-to-grid interactions, and foster efficient operation of our future smart grids and smart cities.

Personal

Dr. Baker grew up in Idaho and now lives in Boulder, CO, with her wife Bridget and two cats Piper and Alex. She enjoys various athletic activities (running, lifting, climbing, racquetball) as well as creative endeavors (playing guitar, bass, drums, photography, photoshop). Since 3/2016 to the last time she checked (5/2019), she holds the Colorado state record for Women's unequipped deadlift at 140 kg (309 lbs) in the 56kg Novice weight class in the Natural Athlete Strength Association.
