ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ ranked as one of the top 25 universities in the world for its impact on Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG6) in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) , rising 36 spots to place 22 globally.Ìý
The category is one of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) tracked in the annual ranking, which measures universities against their progress in supporting the United Nations goals.
This year’s ranking included 2,318 universities, an increase of 355 institutions over last year. Despite the ranking's increase in size, as one of the top 100 universities overall — the third consecutive year it has done so.Ìý
The university’s biggest jump in the 2025 report came in the Responsible Consumption and Production category (SDG12), where it rose more than 50 spots to place in the top 50 globally at 46 overall.Ìý
Dal improved its ranked in Climate Action (SDG13) as well, rising from the 201-300 band into the 101-200 band.Ìý
The university rose one spot domestically to 10th overall in Canada.
THE assigns universities a score for their impact in each of the SDGs, which are used to determine how a university places in each category. Those scores are then used to devise an overall score for each institution and its placement in the overall ranking.Ìý
Dal achieved an overall score of 90.1 in the 2025 ranking, essentially flat year over year even amidst the growing number of participants.

- Life Below Water (SDG14): Ranked 30th globally, 6th in Canada.
- Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG12): Ranked 46th globally, 6th in Canada.
- Partnership for the Goals (SDG17): Ranked 101-200 range globally, 7th in Canada.
